Liverpool are plotting a move for Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to a British media report today.

As per Metro, the reigning Premier League champions are planning a £43 million (approximately €50 million) move for the Italian national team player.

Liverpool have had to deal with a lot of injuries at the back this season and have made strengthening their defence a priority ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report goes on to add that Liverpool could potentially face a great deal of competition from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich for the signature of Bastoni, who has been with Inter since 2017.

The 21-year-old has been virtually ever-present for the Nerazzurri this season, providing four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

Bayern’s interest in Bastoni was confirmed by a report in Italy earlier this week, which claimed the Bundesliga giants had made preliminary contact with the defender’s entourage.

They also clarified however that Bastoni’s priority was to stay at Inter, who are about to offer him a contract extension to fend off potential summer suitors.
