Inter CEO Beppe Marotta Has Left Hospital After COVID-19 Scare, Italian Media Report

Inter have been handed a boost today after CEO Beppe Marotta was discharged from hospital, having been treated for COVID-19.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Juventus director had been hospitalised at Milan’s L’Istituto Clinico Humanitas since 11 March after contracting the coronavirus.

It followed an outbreak of the virus amongst senior staff at Inter, with fellow directors Piero Ausilio and Alessandro Antonelli also testing positive for COVID-19 in late February.

After suffering more worrying symptoms of the virus, 63-year-old Marotta was admitted into hospital but has shown strong signs of recovery and is now in better health, returning home on Saturday.

Elsewhere, an outbreak of the virus amongst the playing squad has led to today’s Serie A match against Sassuolo being postponed, with Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino also testing positive over the week.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport also confirmed that Inter had produced negative tests earlier today as they sought to bring the outbreak under control.
