Inter have been handed a boost by the positive progress made by Arturo Vidal from knee surgery, with the midfielder on schedule in his recovery.

The Chile international was replaced during Inter’s 1-0 win over Atalanta in Serie A on 8 March and underwent an operation to resolve ongoing meniscus issues after a flare-up.

As reported by Tuttosport, Vidal is already on the comeback trail and is no longer on crutches and is convinced that he can complete his recovery in only a matter of weeks, with the league match against Cagliari on 11 April a target.

This would then give the former Juventus midfielder time to reach greater match fitness ahead of a crucial clash against Napoli the following week, with Vidal determined to play a role in Inter’s challenge for the Scudetto this season.

The decision to undergo surgery in March was calculated to ensure Vidal missed as few games as possible by taking in the international break, and after a disappointing season with Barcelona last year the 33-year-old is keen to make amends with Inter.
