Inter have refused to engage with Beppe Sala, after the Mayor of Milan again expressed his desire for clarification on the ownership situation of the club before proceeding with new stadium plans.

In a joint partnership with AC Milan, the Nerazzurri have been looking to build a new stadium in the city and had submitted a proposal, but this was thrown into jeopardy when Sala suggested it could not progress until he knew who Inter’s prospective owners would be.

Current owners Suning have been looking to either sell the club outright or bring investors in for a minority stake, and initially hit back at Sala last week, before the Mayor attempted to clear up his position yesterday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sala’s continued requests have frustrated the Inter hierarchy, with Suning head Zhang Jindong angered by delays after feeling that the proposal has been fully documented and all fears addressed previously.

Indeed, Inter representatives have chosen to meet Sala’s latest words with a wall of silence and will refuse to engage with the Mayor, with no plans to meet with him to clarify their position further.
