Inter have begun searching for a back-up striker to fill in for Romelu Lukaku and may turn to Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, currently on loan at Genoa.

With a nine point cushion at the top of the Serie A table, the Nerazzurri have begun to turn their attention to next season and the summer transfer window, with a powerful striker in the mould of Lukaku amongst the list of priorities.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sassuolo are hoping to cash in on Scamacca after an impressive season on loan at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and Inter have been suggested as a possible destination for the 22-year-old.

AC Milan and Juventus have also been tracking the former Roma forward, whilst Genoa may also look to bring Scamacca back on a permanent deal, although they have no option in place.

Sassuolo valued Scamacca at €25-30 million in January but remain optimistic that a strong campaign for Italy in the upcoming European U21 Championship will increase his price further.

Scamacca has scored eight goals in 22 appearances for Genoa this season and has spent the past four seasons out on loan, having only represented Sassuolo three times in 2017-18.
