Inter will have to fight tooth and nail for every game if they want to become Serie A champions this season, their former striker Alessandro Altobelli has warned.

Antonio Conte’s side are six points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table, albeit they have a game in hand on the Rossoneri after Inter’s match with Sassuolo at the weekend was postponed.

Juventus appear to be out of the running after suffering a shock defeat at home to Benevento yesterday, leaving them 10 points adrift of the Nerazzurri with 11 games left.

Speaking on Rai Due’s program ‘A Tutta Rete’ last night, however, Altobelli argued: “It’s a shame Inter couldn’t play Sassuolo on Saturday, but it won’t be easy for them to beat anyone in the games that are left.

“Now even the smaller teams are fighting for their lives.

“I’d take things game by game, the team is in a good condition and they need to make the most of this moment.”

Inter’s next match will be at Bologna on April 3 after club football resumes following this week’s international break.

Conte will be hoping to have everybody fit and available for the game at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, with four of his players currently positive for COVID-19 (Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino).
