Inter have resumed training at Appiano Gentile this afternoon after all their players tested negative for COVID-19 today, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.
Antonio Conte’s side were forced to suspend all footballing activities for four days from Thursday after four players – Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – contracted the virus last week.
As per Sky Sport Italia, Inter’s latest round of testing revealed no further cases among players (although one member of their ‘team group’ did test positive), giving the Nerazzurri the green light to return to action.
Conte can now begin preparing the team’s next Serie A fixture, which will be away to Bologna on April 3.
Inter are training without seven first-team players after Milan’s local health authority released Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic, Milan Skriniar, Achraf Hakimi and Andrei Radu to join their national teams.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Stefano Sensi, Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni, all of whom were named in Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
