Inter will play their rearranged Serie A match at home to Sassuolo on Wednesday April 7, according to a report in the Italian media.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition this morning said the Lega Serie A would officially confirm the new date at some point on Tuesday, although at the time of this article’s publication it does not appear to have happened yet.

Inter’s matchday 27 fixture will kick-off at 18:45 CET, according to the Rome-based publication, at the same time as Juventus play Napoli in their own rescheduled game.

This means Antonio Conte’s side will play three games in nine days, with the Sassuolo game placed in the middle of their matches at Bologna (April 3) and Cagliari (April 11).

Inter had the opportunity to push the game at San Siro back to April 14, the following Wednesday, if they were in agreement to do so with the Neroverdi.

However, this was not an attractive option for the Serie A leaders as that would have meant facing Sassuolo three days before their trip to play Napoli.

Inter and Sassuolo will kick-off at 18:45 CET in order to avoid the match overlapping with that evening’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final ties.
