Inter forward Romelu Lukaku has been teased by his fellow countryman Dries Mertens after the Napoli man beat him to a momentous achievement.

Mertens became Belgium’s first player to reach the 100-goal tally in Serie A on Sunday after scoring twice in the Partenopei’s 2-0 win at Roma.

The 33-year-old celebrated his career milestone with a jubilant Instagram post on Monday, but he couldn’t help having a friendly jibe at Lukaku in the process.

Mertens, who played only 15 minutes of Napoli’s defeat to Inter in December before going off with an injury, wrote: “Very proud of this new milestone: 100 Serie A goals!

“First Belgian player to reach 100 goals… hurry up, Romelu!”
