Antonio Conte is unlikely to be happy about the postponement of Inter’s match against Sassuolo last weekend, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.

The Nerazzurri were due to host Roberto De Zerbi’s side on matchday 27 of Serie A on Saturday but the game was called off due to Inter’s COVID-19 outbreak, with the Lega Serie A officially rescheduling it today for Wednesday April 7.

Sky Sport Italia, via FcInter1908.it, have pointed out that Inter have now lost their advantage of being able to play only once a week, because they will have to play three games in eight days after the international break.

It is for this reason, despite many claiming that Inter were lucky to get the game postponed, that Conte would have preferred to play Sassuolo as scheduled last weekend.

Conte will only have Inter’s full squad available again one or two days before their next league match, the report continued, which is away at Bologna on April 3.

Until then he will be without 14 first-team players, between the 10 who have disappeared on international duty and the four – Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – who tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
