Antonio Conte remains an admirer of Torino centre-back Armando Izzo, according to a report in the Italian media this evening.

Calciomercato.com said the Inter head coach had not lost sight of the 29-year-old, who is regaining form after the Granata switched back to a three-man defence under new boss Davide Nicola.

Inter explored the possibility of signing Izzo last summer, as did Roma and Sevilla, but Torino president Urbano Cairo put a halt to all talks with his excessive demands for the defender.

Izzo will aim to use the remainder of Torino’s games in Serie A this season, as they battle to secure their top-flight status, to put himself back in the shop window.

The Italian international has made 17 appearances in all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign, scoring twice before the turn of the year.

Roberto Mancini has left Izzo out of his 38-man squad for the Azzurri’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month, indicating he lost appeal thanks to Torino’s struggles under their previous coach Marco Giampaolo.
