Inter could not wish to have a better coach than Antonio Conte for their Serie A title run-in, a report in the Italian media argued today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Conte was a master when it came to making sure his teams finished seasons strongly, as demonstrated by his experiences at Juventus and Chelsea.

Conte’s points-per-game average in the final 11 games of a season has always been higher than the average during the opening 27 matches, the report revealed.

Inter picked up 24 points in their last 11 fixtures last year – seven wins, three draws and one defeat – which would be enough to secure the Scudetto for the Nerazzurri in this campaign.

Conte’s late-season form is down to three factors, according to the report from the Milan-based paper.

Firstly, his physical preparation is designed to ensure his teams still have gas in the tank in the final few games of the season.

Secondly, Conte’s meticulous tactical work comes to the fore, with his players able to build up their understanding and muscle memory throughout the campaign so that they can peak at the end.

Thirdly, Conte is an excellent motivator as shown by his glittering CV full of league titles.

“This international break feels a bit like the calm before the storm, and the storm will be for Inter’s opponents,” Gazzetta concluded.
