Inter would be in a far worse position in Serie A without Romelu Lukaku up front, according to former ChievoVerona striker Sergio Pellissier.

Lukaku has scored 59 goals in 85 appearances since joining the Nerazzurri in a club-record deal from Manchester United in the summer of 2019.

He has 25 goals to his name in all competitions so far this season and has propelled Antonio Conte’s side into a six-point lead at the top of Serie A (with a game in hand).

“Lukaku is Inter’s real strong point,” Pellissier told Sky Sport Italia today.

“Conte would struggle without him.

“Juventus, on the other hand, could cope without Cristiano Ronaldo up front.

“Lukaku is a force of nature, I already liked him when he was playing for Everton.”

Lukaku was back among the goals for his country on Wednesday, scoring a second-half penalty to help Belgium secure a 3-1 win over Wales in their opening FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

He has now scored each of his last 18 penalties between club and country, a streak which dates back to August 2017 when he missed for Manchester United against Leicester.

Lukaku will look to add to his Inter tally when the Nerazzurri return to Serie A action at Bologna next Saturday.
