Inter have reached an agreement in principle to extend Nicolo Barella’s contract, according to a report in Italy tonight.
FcInterNews.it said the midfielder’s agent Alessandro Beltrami had struck a deal with the Nerazzurri that would tie Barella to the club until 2025.
The 24-year-old’s annual salary will increase from €2.5 million to €4.5 million, a recognition for his exceptional performances under Antonio Conte this season.
Inter have moved to secure a new deal with Barella in a bid to fend off multiple suitors from the Premier League, as well as Atletico Madrid.
Barella has chosen to remain at Inter for the long term and wants to make history together with the Nerazzurri, the club he has supported since childhood.
Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni have also agreed new contracts, which will be announced in the coming months, and now it is Barella’s turn to commit himself to the runaway Serie A leaders.
Barella has scored three goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side this season.
