Inter have been warned not to take the Serie A title for granted by Italian football legend Dino Zoff.

Antonio Conte’s side are six points clear of AC Milan (with a game in hand) at the top of the standings, following an impressive run of eight straight wins since the end of January.

But the Nerazzurri still have 11 games left before they can think about celebrating a first league title since 2010.

“Inter have a considerable lead, the cards are certainly stacked in their favour,” former Juventus goalkeeper Zoff told 1 Station Radio on Thursday.

“Although at the moment they have players in their squad with COVID-19, so everything is still possible.

“For sure, the compressed calendar has had an impact on the season, but what’s been more important is the performance of each individual team in relation to their absences.

“I’m convinced the league is still very open, lots can change.”

Inter have four players currently positive for COVID-19 – Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – after an outbreak at the club last week.

This led to the postponement of last Saturday’s fixture at home to Sassuolo, which was rearranged this week for Wednesday April 7.

Conte will be hoping all of his players can recover from the virus in time for Inter’s trip to face Bologna on April 3.
