Lautaro Martinez will become a much richer man when the striker signs his new contract at Inter, as explained by a leading Italian broadcaster.

Sky Sport Italia confirmed Lautaro was set to continue his devastating partnership with Romelu Lukaku up front next season.

Inter have agreed to extend El Toro’s current deal and lift his annual salary from just below €3 million to €5 million plus add-ons.

Lautaro’s representatives are aware of the complex financial landscape in football at present and this was factored into their negotiations with Inter’s directors.

Inter have never absolutely ruled out the possibility of selling Lautaro, the report explained, but it would nonetheless take ‘a lot of money’ to prize him away from the Nerazzurri.

Barcelona were interested in snapping up the 23-year-old before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s possible other top clubs will come calling in the future.

Lautaro has scored 16 goals in all competitions for Inter this season, providing nine assists for Antonio Conte’s side.
