Inter have moved to tie down one of their most promising academy talents, as per a report in the Italian media on Friday.

FcInter1908.it revealed the Nerazzurri had agreed a contract extension with Primavera midfielder Gaetano Oristanio, who has impressed for Armando Madonna’s side this season.

Oristanio was subject to interest from Serie B side Pescara last summer but Inter were never prepared to sit down and begin negotiations.

The 18-year-old will not officially put pen to paper on the new deal for the moment – perhaps because of Inter’s well-known financial difficulties (although the report did not specify) – but the agreement is in place.

Oristanio has made 11 appearances for Inter’s Primavera so far, scoring two goals and two assists.

FCIN said Inter’s academy coaches were convinced the midfielder had a bright future ahead, although he is still struggling to keep up his intensity for 90 minutes at the moment.

Oristanio recently contracted COVID-19 but has since recovered and is back at work for Madonna’s team.
