Inter would be fools to get carried away and think they have already won the Serie A title, as highlighted by a leading Italian journalist today.

Antonio Conte’s side will return to action on Saturday, when Inter visit Bologna, with a six-point lead (and a game in hand) over AC Milan at the top of the table.

However, with 11 games to play it is clear there is still a lot that could still happen, as Sky Sport 24 director Matteo Marani explained.

“I’m not taking anything for granted in this league, although eventually the best teams come to the fore,” he warned Inter.

“Conte has shown in this sense, after a few problems at the start of this season, to be an added value for Inter.

“Inter have had fewer injuries than their rivals this season and, since they went out of Europe, they accelerated away in a decisive manner.

“This is a fairly big advantage, especially when you think about how Conte is a specialist in preparing teams for one game per week.

“Nothing is guaranteed though, just remember last year when it was Bologna themselves who beat Inter and cost them the Scudetto.

“AC Milan are still there and Inter need to remain alert.”

Marani also offered his thoughts on Stefano Sensi, who started his first match since September last night when Italy beat Bulgaria in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Sensi played 68 minutes for the Azzurri before being substituted and it is possible this game time could kick-start his Inter career as well.

“I don’t think he’s a play-maker, but he’s an excellent mezzala,” Marani argued.

“He’d only played 30 minutes in Inter’s last 12 games and he hadn’t featured at all in the last seven.

“It’s a shame to see him playing this little, given his talent.”

Sensi will be hoping to feature at the weekend when Conte and his players travel to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
