Christian Eriksen is a leader for Denmark as well as one of their best players, at least according to one of the Inter midfielder’s teammates.
Eriksen has often faced accusations of being too timid since joining Inter from Tottenham Hotspur in January last year.
However, his fellow Denmark midfielder Christian Norgaard, who plays for English side Brentford in the Championship, has praised the 29-year-old for his calming influence in the dressing room.
“There’s great hunger and we’re a very close-knit group, something difficult to describe,” Norgaard told Danish news outlet Kanal 5 (via FcInter1908.it).
“Credit goes to the more experienced players, like Simon Kjaer, Kasper Schmeichel, Thomas Delaney and Christian Eriksen.
“They make it easier for the younger players to settle into the team.”
Eriksen has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring his only goal in stoppage time of their 2-1 win over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has played 105 times for Denmark’s senior team since making his debut back in 2010, in which time he has scored 36 goals.
Eriksen played the full 90 minutes on Thursday as Kasper Hjulmand’s side beat Israel 2-0 in their opening FIFA World Cup qualifier.
He came on as a second-half substitute on Sunday when Denmark thrashed Moldova 8-0.
