Inter are keeping a close eye on players who would be available on a free transfer this summer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri’s next transfer campaign would depend entirely on what happens at club level in the next few weeks, with Suning seeking fresh investment to remain as owners.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are in any case hoping to sign a new left wing-back and probably a centre-back with the budget they have available.

Napoli’s Nikola Maksimovic, Real Betis’ Aissa Mandi and Schalke’s Shkodran Mustafi are three centre-backs who are out of contract in the summer and could be viable options for them.

Maksimovic earns €1.2 million annually in Naples and would want €2.5 million at a new club, the Turin-based paper explained.

Mandi wants to try a new experience at the age of 29 and Inter are named in the Spanish media as one of the clubs most interested in signing the Algerian.

Mustafi joined Schalke on a six-month deal in January and has been linked with Inter on numerous occasions in the past.

In terms of Inter’s own players who are out of contract this summer, TS said Danilo D’Ambrosio was likely to sign an extension to remain with the Nerazzurri.

Aleksandar Kolarov is likely to leave, on the other hand, while Andrea Ranocchia could also look to move on.
