Inter are set to miss out on the chance to sign Sergio Aguero when he leaves Manchester City, according to a report in the Italian media.

The Premier League leaders confirmed last night that the 32-year-old would end his 10-year stint at the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Inter were linked with a move for Aguero on several occasions in recent weeks, but Calciomercato.com have assured that the Argentine is not coming to Serie A, not even to join Juventus.

Aguero is instead destined to join Barcelona, with reports in Spain suggesting the La Liga giants had already agreed a deal with the forward.

Inter were mooted to be interested in signing Aguero in the past, with talk of swap deals that never came to fruition.

Aguero has scored 257 goals in 384 games for Manchester City and looks set now to join up with his fellow countryman Lionel Messi in Catalonia.

Barca’s move to bring in the striker is said to be a further attempt to convince Messi to stay beyond this summer.
