Inter will pay their players’ salaries for the month of January today, a report in the Italian media has confirmed.
Corriere della Sera’s print edition backed up reports from other papers on Tuesday in saying that Inter would respect all their various payment deadlines ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA deadline.
Achraf Hakimi is the subject of the main payment, with Inter needing to hand over €13 million to Real Madrid by March 31 as the first instalment of the Moroccan’s transfer fee.
Inter were originally due to make the payment by the end of December, but the clubs’ great relations enabled them to agree a deferral until the end of March.
At the same time as the Nerazzurri pay for Hakimi, the Milan-based publication explained, Inter’s players will receive their wages for the month of January.
Inter have until June, meanwhile, to pay Manchester United the next instalment of Romelu Lukaku’s transfer fee.
Today’s news appears to confirm Suning are committed to the Nerazzurri, the report suggested, after months of uncertainty and speculation off the pitch.
It is therefore possible that Inter president Steven Zhang will return to Milan at some point in the coming weeks, as Suning seek the investment they need to continue as the club’s owners.
