Diego Forlan has everything crossed for Inter as his former club prepare to chase down the Serie A title.
The legendary Uruguayan forward joined the Nerazzurri in 2011 but was limited to just 20 appearances across all competitions, in what proved to be his only season with the club due to a series of injuries.
Forlan, who scored two goals and provided three assists for Inter, had signed a two-year deal but terminated his contract and joined Brazilian club Internacional in the summer of 2012.
“I’d be delighted if my former side Inter won the Scudetto,” Forlan told TuttoJuve.com today.
“Juventus have won it for many years and it would be very nice if a new team like Inter could take their place in Serie A’s history books.
“This would make Serie A a more unpredictable league, because that way it’s harder to know at the beginning who will win.”
Antonio Conte’s side are six points clear of second-placed AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings, and the Nerazzurri also have a game in hand over their city rivals (to be played against Sassuolo next Wednesday).
Juventus are 10 points back, having played the same number of games as Inter, and seem all but certain to lose their crown after nine consecutive league titles.
