Inter have built a squad that will ensure they remain Serie A frontrunners for several years, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.com said the Nerazzurri had finally bridged the gap to Juventus after a 10-year struggle and had laid the foundations for a bright future.

Inter are struggling financially off the pitch, with owners Suning battling rising debt and tough Chinese government restrictions, but on the pitch the value of their squad is rocketing skywards.

Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni, Achraf Hakimi, Nicolo Barella, Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku are all worth more than €50 million, the report argued, and have a combined average age of just 24.

Inter’s starting XI has an overall average age of 27 but that includes players of ‘enormous value’ such as Stefan de Vrij and Christian Eriksen.

The Nerazzurri then have several talented youngsters on loan with other Italian clubs who could become key players in the future, such as Lucien Agoume, Lorenzo Pirola and Sebastiano Esposito.

Inter have built a squad full of ‘appetising’ players which should guarantee them success for many years, and this is partly why Suning remained firm on their €1 billion asking price during talks with BC Partners.

But while Antonio Conte’s side is a great team for Serie A, the report argued, Inter still need a midfielder like Rodrigo de Paul and a reliable fourth-choice striker if they are to become competitive in the UEFA Champions League.
