Nicolo Barella will stay at Inter for the rest of his career, according to one of the midfielder’s former coaches.

The 24-year-old has scored three goals and provided 10 assists for the Nerazzurri in all competitions this season.

Nicolo Legrottaglie coached Barella during a brief stint as Cagliari’s assistant boss in 2017 and made a very appealing prediction for Inter supporters earlier this week.

“Barella will finish his career at Inter,” Legrottaglie told TMW Radio.

“He’ll be loved by his fans and for a player like him it couldn’t be any other way.

“I think he’s improved in terms of believing he’s a good finisher, as well as with his temperament and his timing on the ball in midfield.

“As soon as I arrived at Cagliari and I saw Barella, I sent a message to Juventus (Legrottaglie’s former club).

“I saw something really special in him even though he was a little lacking physically.

“It was difficult to envisage him playing with the big boys in the Champions League, but at Inter he’s shown that with the legs and the engine he has he can make lots of lung-busting runs.

“Barella is a complete player and I think he really will do well.”

Barella is expected to start for Inter tomorrow when Antonio Conte’s side visit Bologna in matchday 29 of Serie A.

The Nerazzurri have not played a match for almost three weeks now, following the postponement of their match against Sassuolo and the subsequent international break.

Barella will be critical for Conte’s hopes of leading Inter to the Scudetto during their final 11 games of the campaign.

He featured for Italy during their FIFA World Cup qualifying wins over Northern Ireland, Bulgaria and Lithuania but he did not contribute to any goals.
