Romelu Lukaku’s future looks almost certain to be with Inter beyond the summer, a leading Italian transfer expert assured today.

The 27-year-old has never shown any sign of wanting to leave the Nerazzurri but Barcelona and Manchester City have both been linked with a move in recent months.

Sky Sport Italia’s Luca Marchetti seems confident Inter will not be parting company with their star striker anytime soon.

“In a moment like this, if you receive a tempting offer then you need to consider it more than before,” Marchetti told Italian radio station TMW Radio today.

“That applies for Lautaro Martinez, Lukaku or Alessandro Bastoni: it’s an idea which applies to every player in any other team.

“But let’s be clear, considering an eventual offer doesn’t mean you’re going to sell.

“There are teams like Barcelona and Manchester City who are looking for a striker, but it’s not as if Lukaku is the only top striker in Europe.

“It’s difficult to give you a percentage but it’s very likely Lukaku remains at Inter.”

Inter are battling well-documented financial issues at present, although owners Suning did manage to respect all of Wednesday’s payment deadlines to avoid punishment from UEFA.

The Nerazzurri were warned by a report in Italy’s papers this morning that they would have to sell at least one big player this summer, if they were to cover their predicted €130 loss at the end of the current financial year.

However, Marchetti seemed more optimistic this afternoon and said: “Inter don’t have the best finances in Europe, on the contrary.

“But there’s a lot of confidence that the situation can improve.”
