Stefano Sensi is on cloud nine after helping Italy beat Lithuania in FIFA World Cup qualifying on Wednesday.

The Inter midfielder came on as a half-time substitute in Vilnius and opened the scoring for the Azzurri within two minutes of the restart.

Ciro Immobile rubber-stamped a 2-0 win for Roberto Mancini’s side in stoppage time but it was Sensi who took most of the post-game plaudits.

Sensi will now hope to resurrect his career at Inter as well, writing on Instagram: “Happy to have scored!

“Even happier for this win for the team.

“A perfect night, the right path towards the FIFA World Cup!”
