Inter could have the Serie A title wrapped up by the end of next weekend, according to their legendary former midfielder Nicola Berti.

Antonio Conte’s side are six points clear of second-placed AC Milan at the top of the table, as they prepare to return to action at Bologna tonight.

Inter have 11 games separating them and a first league title since 2010, but Berti believes they might only need three of those to secure the title.

“If Inter manage to win the three games that await them when club football resumes (against Bologna, Sassuolo and Cagliari), the Scudetto will be theirs,” Berti told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview for Friday’s print edition.

Berti was asked which remaining game he felt could be most dangerous to Conte’s men as they chase the Scudetto.

He replied: “The first one, at Bologna.

“And I’m not only saying that because it’s the next one and comes after a long break.”

Berti was also asked to choose which player would be most important for Inter in their title run-in.

“It will be Lautaro Martinez,” he said.

“It would have been easy to say Romelu Lukaku or Nicolo Barella who are both certainties in terms of form and leadership.

“But El Toro scored a goal against Torino which won’t be forgotten in a hurry.”

Lautaro was the last player to score for Inter when the Nerazzurri won at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on March 14, almost three weeks ago.
