Inter need to sort Alessandro Bastoni’s new contract quickly in order to fend off interest from around Europe, a report in the Italian media warned today.

Gazzetta.it said the 21-year-old had many admirers on the continent, among whom Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Bastoni is becoming an indispensable part of Inter’s present and future team and the Nerazzurri tie him down to a new long-term deal as a priority.

The centre-back’s current contract expires in 2023 but reports recently, the Milan-based publication recalled, have suggested that a new deal is all but agreed.

Bastoni is an extra weapon for Inter with the ball at his feet, the report explained, having learned how to play out from the back during his time in Atalanta’s academy.

He can also provide a decisive contribution in the opposition’s half though, as shown by his delightful cross for Romelu Lukaku to score Saturday’s winning goal at Bologna.

Bastoni has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, providing four assists for Antonio Conte’s side.
