Andrea Ranocchia and Roberto Gagliardini are expected to start for Inter against Sassuolo on Wednesday.
Sky Sport Italia said Ranocchia was most likely to keep his spot in the centre of Antonio Conte’s back three on Wednesday, replacing the suspended Alessandro Bastoni.
Stefan de Vrij will be back in the Inter XI against the Neroverdi after being rested at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, but he will move to the left-hand side of defence where Bastoni usually plays.
Matteo Darmian is the alternative to De Vrij, with Danilo D’Ambrosio still yet to return to group training following his recovery from COVID-19.
As far as midfield is concerned, Gagliardini is considered the favourite to replace Marcelo Brozovic after the Croatian also picked up a one-match suspension on Saturday.
Christian Eriksen and Nicolo Barella will complete Conte’s midfield three as normal, while Alexis Sanchez is fighting to oust either Romelu Lukaku or Lautaro Martinez from the starting XI up front.
Conte will probably be without Ivan Perisic and Aleksandar Kolarov again for the rearranged fixture at San Siro, with both players continuing to train separately from their teammates today.
Milan Skriniar will complete Inter’s back three as normal, when the Nerazzurri will look to further extend their lead over AC Milan at the top of Serie A.
