Antonio Conte To Discuss New Inter Contract With Steven Zhang In Summer, Italian Media Claim

Antonio Conte is expected to hold contract talks with Inter president Steven Zhang at the end of this season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Conte signed a three-year deal when he was appointed the Nerazzurri’s head coach in 2019, meaning he will enter his final year in the summer.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said Inter were unlikely to let Conte begin the 2021-22 season without an extension, although they warned it would be difficult to guarantee his current salary (€12 million annually plus €2 million in add-ons) for more years, given the club’s economic problems.

Inter’s directors are all out of contract in 2022 as well and their contracts are likely to be discussed too.

The club will not hold any talks now so as to not distract anybody from Inter’s quest to win the Serie A title.

Inter will also need to tie up several contracts with their players at the end of the season, with six first-team members waiting on new deals.

Alessandro Bastoni is practically sorted in terms of a new agreement with the Nerazzurri, while Lautaro Martinez is hoping to finalise a deal soon after he sorts out his agent change.

Nicolo Barella, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – plus anyone out of contract this summer – are also awaiting negotiations.
