Inter will be hoping lightning can strike twice after Massimiliano Irrati was appointed as referee for tomorrow’s match against Sassuolo.

Irrati oversaw the reverse fixture back in November when the Nerazzurri ran out 3-0 winners at the Mapei Stadium.

Antonio Conte’s side would very much like history to repeat itself at San Siro, when Inter host the Neroverdi for their rearranged fixture from matchday 27.

Irrati will have Rosario Abisso assisting him as fourth official while Luca Banti is due to oversee VAR duties.

Inter can open up an 11-point lead over AC Milan at the top of Serie A by beating Roberto De Zerbi’s men, which would extend their winning run in the league to 10 games.

The Nerazzurri have not been on such a streak since the 2006-07 season when Roberto Mancini led them to a dominant league title success.

Andrea Ranocchia and Roberto Gagliardini are favourites to replace the suspended Alessandro Bastoni and Marcelo Brozovic.
