Antonio Conte is keeping his foot firmly on the gas as Inter prepare to host Sassuolo tonight, according to a report in the Italian media.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri boss had made it clear to his players after Saturday’s win at Bologna that Inter could not afford to lose concentration now.

Conte believes Inter’s three matches in nine days against Bologna, Sassuolo and Cagliari (on Sunday) are ‘decisive’ in the club’s bid to win the Serie A title.

Beating Sassuolo at San Siro would extend the Nerazzurri’s winning streak in the league to 10 games, which would be the third longest run of Conte’s career (having managed 13 in a row at Chelsea and 12 at Juventus).

Inter are full of enthusiasm at present and can take a huge stride towards history with three points against Roberto De Zerbi’s side tonight, the Milan-based paper continued.

Conte’s men could soon be comparable to Giovanni Trapattoni’s record-breaking team from the 1988-89 campaign, the report argued, the coach Conte has always admired as his hero.
