Inter’s Lautaro Martinez Starting Against Sassuolo With Alexis Sanchez On Bench, Italian Media Report

Lautaro Martinez is expected to keep his place in Inter’s starting XI against Sassuolo tonight, according to a report in the Italian media.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Alexis Sanchez had hoped to make the side but will have to settle again for a place on the bench, with Romelu Lukaku partnering Lautaro in attack.

Antonio Conte does not want Inter’s players to lower their guard, despite their healthy lead in the Serie A table, and will pick his strongest possible XI in order to send them a clear message.

Matteo Darmian and Roberto Gagliardini are expected to replace the suspended Alessandro Bastoni and Marcelo Brozovic.

Nicolo Barella will take over Brozovic’s play-maker position while Christian Eriksen retains his role as a ‘mezzala’ on the left-hand side of Inter’s midfield three.
