Antonio Conte should not pay any attention to those criticising Inter’s style of play, according to a report in the Italian media today.

The Nerazzurri have divided opinion in Italy following their performance against Sassuolo last night, with the Nerazzurri recording just 30% possession during the 2-1 win at San Siro.

FcInter1908.it recalled that when Inter struggled for results while playing a more attacking brand of football earlier this season, there were precious few who seemed to care about their expansive approach.

Now that Conte has reverted to his preferred low-possession approach and is getting results, though, he is suddenly being criticised because Inter’s football is not aesthetically pleasing.

FCIN1908’s report showed a graphic from Sky Sport Italia which revealed Inter had recorded less possession than their opponents in six of their last eight games.

Conte’s side have won on every single occasion though, proving Inter have found the right formula to win games in Serie A and move towards the title.

Inter have no reason to change their approach and their naysayers will have to deal with that, the report argued, because it is too important to win a trophy for the club after 10 years of nothing.

In any case, Sassuolo’s possession at San Siro was mostly sterile and hardly led to any clear-cut chances on Samir Handanovic’s goal.
