Inter must not underestimate Cagliari’s desperation to get a result on Sunday, the Rossoblu’s midfielder Razvan Marin has warned.
Leonardo Semplici’s side are two points adrift of safety at the bottom of Serie A and have just nine games to preserve their top-flight status.
Inter are on the hunt for an 11th straight win in the league after Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, but the Nerazzurri should take nothing for granted as their title charge enters the home stretch.
“We have to give everything in these remaining games, starting on Sunday at Inter,” Romania international Marin told Corriere dello Sport in an interview for Thursday’s print edition.
“We’re obliged to pick up points against everyone, if we want to stay up we have to start immediately.”
Inter will come up against two familiar faces at San Siro, with Diego Godin and Radja Nainggolan now plying their trade in Sardinia.
Godin was released to join Cagliari on a permanent deal last summer while Nainggolan is on loan until the end of the season.
“They’re both speaking with all of us to try and resolve this situation,” Marin revealed.
“We’re all trying to give something extra in order to get out of our current position.”
Inter will be without Cagliari’s former midfielder Nicolo Barella at the weekend, with the 24-year-old ruled out through suspension.
