Inter fans could have a new anthem to sing at San Siro if the Nerazzurri secure the Serie A title.

Antonio Conte’s side are odds-on favourites to win the club’s first Scudetto since 2010 after going 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Italian rock singer Povia has promised he will dedicate a song to Inter if they get the job done in their remaining nine games.

“If Inter win the Scudetto, I’ll publish a new anthem,” Povia wrote on his Facebook profile (via FcInter1908.it).

“It’ll be powerful to sing and it’ll have San Siro bouncing in the future.

“It would be a bomb of a song, but if they don’t win then there’ll be nothing.”

Inter’s performance during their 2-1 win over Sassuolo on Wednesday has divided opinion in Italy, with some arguing they should be aiming to play a more expansive brand of football.

Conte’s side recorded just 30% possession during the game at San Siro, their lowest tally on record in Serie A since Opta began collecting such data in 2004.

Povia also shared his thoughts on the matter, adding: “I’m not liking Inter because they’re taking too much risk and are playing too much in defence and on the counterattack.

“But they’re winning so it’s fine.”

Inter will return to Serie A action on Sunday when they welcome struggling Cagliari to San Siro.
