Inter can be safe in the knowledge that Milan Skriniar is back to his brilliant best, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said the Slovak defender had re-established himself as a cornerstone in the Nerazzurri’s defence.

Skriniar has started 31 of Inter’s 39 games in all competitions this season, having fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte at the end of the previous campaign.

He has overcome competition from Diego Godin and catching COVID-19 to become arguably their most important player, as demonstrated by his performance against Sassuolo on Wednesday.

Skriniar has rediscovered his talent for scoring goals, the Turin-based paper highlighted, with five this season between Inter and Slovakia – his best haul since the 26-year-old’s first season at Inter under Luciano Spalletti.

What’s more, the former Sampdoria defender has only received two yellow cards during his 31 starts in the 2020-21 campaign, only one of which has come in Serie A.
