Inter should welcome their president Steven Zhang back to Milan next week, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Zhang has been following the Nerazzurri’s fortunes from China this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Corriere della Sera’s print edition said Suning were still planning to remain Inter’s owners, despite intense speculation earlier this year that they could sell the club.

Zhang will return to Italy and begin planning Inter’s ‘strategy for the future’, as soon as there is clarity over the Nerazzurri’s corporate issues.

Suning are widely thought to be seeking fresh investment at Inter in a bid to guarantee the club’s long-term financial stability.

Several groups have been linked with buying into the Nerazzurri, although now it seems Suning are more likely to secure a loan deal to get them through the end of the season.

Zhang is thought to be reluctant to leave Inter given the attachment he has formed with both the club and the city of Milan.
