Inter do not need to worry about Barcelona coming in for Lautaro Martinez anymore, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere della Sera’s print edition said the La Liga giants courted the striker at length last summer before ‘throwing in the towel’ due to the club’s critical financial issues.

Lautaro is already starting for Argentina aged 23 and he is helping drive Inter towards their first Serie A title since 2010.

Antonio Conte has transformed El Toro into a complete striker since his appointment as head coach two summers ago, the Milan-based paper argued.

Lautaro made evident progress during Inter’s UEFA Champions League campaign last season, scoring five goals before they were knocked out in the group stage.

Conte has helped the former Racing Club make improvements in all departments, the report argued, from his maturity to his technique and tactical awareness.

Lautaro’s potential has exploded at Inter this season and is reportedly close to signing a new contract with the Nerazzurri.
