Inter are one of three Serie A clubs interested in a deal to sign Olivier Giroud on a free transfer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

FcInterNews.it said there was no sign of Chelsea offering the striker a new deal to stay at the club, with Giroud currently out of contract in the summer.

Inter, Juventus and Roma have all revived contact with Giroud’s entourage in recent weeks and could be set to battle for his services ahead of next season.

Antonio Conte knows Giroud well, having coached him at Chelsea for six months, and sees him as an ideal back-up option for Romelu Lukaku up front.

Inter’s transfer activity this summer will depend on what sort of budget they have available, but the fact Giroud is available for free could be ‘an assist’ for Conte and co.

Giroud is intrigued by the idea of moving to Serie A because he believes he has the skills set to be a good fit in the Italian league.

The 34-year-old wants a two-year deal wherever he moves next as he thinks he is still in great shape and able to make the difference for a top side.

He has scored 11 goals in 26 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season.
