Inter’s former boss Roberto Mancini sees similarities between his side and the one Antonio Conte is leading to the Serie A title now.

Mancini oversaw one of the most successful periods in Inter’s history in the mid-2000s, leading the Nerazzurri to three consecutive Scudetti before Jose Mourinho arrived in 2008.

Conte now has Inter 11 points clear at the top of Serie A and they are six games away from equalling the 17-game winning run achieved by Mancini’s side, during the 2006-07 season.

“There are lots of similarities between Conte’s Inter and mine,” Mancini, who now coaches Italy’s national team, told reporters at a press conference today (as quoted by Gazzetta.it).

“I also arrived at Inter after they hadn’t won for many years (Mancini joined in 2004).

“We worked hard for two years, even with a bit of difficulty, and then we won the Coppa Italia to start things off.

“Then we managed to win the Scudetti and then it became the Inter side which won everything.”

Mancini admitted to being very impressed with the way Inter had worked as a club during the last couple of years.

“Inter are a club with great prestige in Italy and around the world, and this year they have a great team,” he added.

“They are proof that when you work consistently and with seriousness, the results will come.

“Inter should be an example for everyone.”

Conte’s Inter will go in search of a 12th consecutive league win when they play Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.

Inter have already become the first team in Serie A history to begin the second half of a league season with 11 straight wins, beating the previous record (10) from Arrigo Sacchi’s AC Milan in 1990.
