Milan Skriniar insists he is not surprised by Christian Eriksen’s recent upturn in form for Inter.

Eriksen looked almost certain to leave the Nerazzurri in January when he was linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, as well as Leicester City.

Antonio Conte has since found a spot for the Dane in midfield and Eriksen is making the most of his second chance, impressing again during last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Cagliari.

“We knew Eriksen was a great player,” Skriniar told Sky Sport Italia today, in an interview where he also discussed Inter’s Serie A title hopes.

“He needed a bit of time but he’s doing very well.

“Eriksen is giving us a great hand going forwards but also in defence.”

Skriniar also suggested Eriksen had benefited from learning Italian, adding: “It’s very important to know the language so that you can understand your teammates.

“Christian understands almost everything now.”

Eriksen has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring his only goal of the campaign during Inter’s 2-1 win over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Skriniar has played 33 times, meanwhile, scoring three goals in Serie A which have come against Hellas Verona, Roma and Atalanta.

Inter are 11 points clear at the top of Serie A as they prepare to visit Napoli on Sunday for matchday 31 of 38.
