Inter Defenders Skriniar, De Vrij & Bastoni Guiding Nerazzurri To Serie A Title, Italian Media Argue

Inter are charging towards the Serie A title thanks to a defence which is ‘running like clockwork’, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition highlighted that the Nerazzurri now had the league’s joint-best defence alongside Juventus, with 27 goals conceded in 30 games, following their 1-0 win over Cagliari last Sunday.

Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni are earning comparisons with Juventus’ legendary ‘BBC’ trio of Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.

Inter’s three centre-backs have been in excellent form all season, although they also have their teammates to thank for keeping the side compact and defending from the front.

Skriniar, De Vrij and Bastoni took a while to adjust at the start of the campaign while Inter were lacking balance and conceding goals with far too much ease.

Since Conte tweaked the Nerazzurri’s system, they have become an impregnable wall and are a key reason why Inter sit 11 points clear at the top of Serie A.
