Inter celebrated a very special European anniversary involving their former striker Ronaldo on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri secured a 4-2 aggregate victory over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Cup semi-finals on April 23 in 1998.

Inter won the first leg 2-1 at San Siro before travelling to play the return leg on an appalling pitch in the Russian capital.

Ronaldo was the hero for Gigi Simoni’s side, scoring twice to cancel out Andrey Tikhonov’s early opener and securing another 2-1 win.

Inter went on to beat Lazio 3-0 in the final at the Parc des Princes.
