Ashley Young is eager to repay Inter’s faith in him by winning this season’s Serie A title under Antonio Conte.

Inter are 11 points clear at the top of the table with only eight games left, making them heavy favourites to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2010.

Young signed for the Nerazzurri from Manchester United in January last year and seems to have no regrets about his decision to join.

“My next challenge is to win a trophy with this fantastic club,” the 35-year-old told Inter TV.

Young was asked to look back on the toughest challenge of his career so far, which came when he was a teenager in Watford’s academy.

“It was when I was 16 and I was left without a contract,” he recalled.

“They offered me a part-time deal eventually and I continued to train with them.

“It was an experience which set me up well for the rest of my career, the disappointment I felt pushed me to do better and I’ve not looked back since.”

Young also revealed which other sport he might have pursued had he not played football, as well as a famous figure he’d love to swap lives with.

“I don’t know what I’d have played, maybe tennis,” he suggested.

“If I couldn’t be me the person I’d want to be is Barack Obama.”

Young, who said Romelu Lukaku had the best taste in music within Inter’s dressing room, has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, providing three assists for Conte’s side in Serie A.
