Inter do not need to worry about being caught in Serie A even if they lose at Napoli tomorrow, according to former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini.

The Nerazzurri are 11 points clear at the top of the table ahead of their match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, arguably their toughest remaining fixture of the season.

Antonio Conte’s side will go all-out to beat the Partenopei according to one Inter legend, but Ambrosini is confident no result tomorrow could damage their title chances.

“Inter will be the same team from now until the end of the season,” Ambrosini, who made nearly 500 appearances for AC Milan, told Sky Sport Italia.

“It can happen that you lose against Napoli, but nobody will take the Serie A title off them now.

“It’ll be a nice match to watch, Inter will play with freedom.

“You can see from how Conte is smiling in interviews that they know they’re close to completing the job, and when you’re close you want to get over the line as soon as possible.

“You can always account for a slip-up or two.”

Inter will be seeking a 12th straight league win when they take on Gennaro Gattuso’s side, having made a new piece of Serie A history in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Cagliari.

Conte’s side are the first team ever in Serie A to begin the second half of the season with 11 consecutive wins, breaking the previous record (10) set by Arrigo Sacchi’s AC Milan in 1990.

Inter beat Napoli in this season’s reverse fixture, with Romelu Lukaku’s penalty securing a 1-0 win at San Siro back in December.
