Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has received the full backing of coach Antonio Conte this season and is ready to commit his future to the club.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina international is determined to remain with the Nerazzurri and will conclude discussions on a new contract at the end of the season.

With a €4.5 million per season agreement thought to be close, Martinez dropped former representatives Beto Yaque and Rolando Zarate after they touted him to Barcelona, and will continue negotiations through his father.

A deal is thought to be so close that Martinez himself has felt ready to announce it but Inter will wait until the summer to finalise and officially confirm the new contract.

Meanwhile, the newspaper highlighted the 23-year-old’s importance to Conte this season, with it being a significant factor in his desire to remain.

Martinez has featured in all 30 Serie A matches this season, with only goalkeeper Samir Handanovic able to match him at Inter, and no striker amongst top half clubs playing as often.
