Inter are planning a defensive revolution ahead of next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Danilo D’Ambrosio, Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksandar Kolarov could all leave the Nerazzurri with their contracts set to expire in the summer.

Inter have decided not to exercise their option to extend Kolarov’s contract for another season, which would have become automatic after the Serbian made his 20th appearance this season (he has only played 11 times so far).

Ranocchia is likely to want more game time after playing second fiddle to Stefan de Vrij this season, while D’Ambrosio could stay but does also have interest from AC Milan (who have offered a two-year deal).

The Turin-based paper said Inter were likely to re-sign Standard Liege captain for €17 million, at which point Antonio Conte would decide if he stayed or went out on loan again.

Inter will also be looking at free agents ahead of next season though, with the most appealing player in that regard being Jerome Boateng at Bayern Munich.

Napoli’s Nikola Maksimovic is currently the most likely option after the Serbian was offered by his agent to Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio.

Lorenzo Pirola could return from his loan spell at Monza and be sent out to gain experience in another Serie A team next season.
