Inter have two players in particular to thank for their remarkable run of form in Serie A, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic had helped the Nerazzurri change gear since the end of January, with 11 wins and one draw in the last 12 league games.

Eriksen has given Antonio Conte’s side the extra bit of quality they needed in the decisive moment of the season, the report argued.

The Dane scored his second league goal for Inter last night when he fired in an equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw away at Napoli.

Inter now have more points than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues this season, following last night’s point at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Conte’s side now have 75 points after 31 games, going one point clear of Manchester City in the Premier League (who have played a game more than Inter).

The Milan-based paper said this was a statement of intent ahead of next season’s UEFA Champions League.
